Motorsport UK NCR 2026 #11 | Chair ’s Message

Chair ’s Message

Motorsport today is very different from when I first received my competition licence. Societal changes, technological advancements and the evolving role that a national-governing body plays has meant our sport has changed significantly over the years. But what has stayed the same is unwavering passion and dedication for motorsport and Motorsport UK remains more committed than ever to stay ahead of the curve for the betterment of the sport.

The Motorsport UK community is strong, with 70,000 competitors, 10,000 marshals, more than 3,000 officials and a strong network of 600+ clubs nationwide. I am incredibly thankful to everyone who continues to show their support to our organisation in delivering more than 4,000 events each year.

Motorsport UK is extremely committed to ensuring that the momentum that has been built during my tenure is built upon, and we do not lose sight of our core requirement to encourage, administer, promote and manage four-wheel motorsport in this country. This past-year has seen significant progress made towards our long-term goals.

The very foundation of our sport is built on a robust set of regulations to ensure that everyone competing can do so in a safe, fair and fun environment. And this year ’s set of regulations demonstrates our commitment to transform the sport for the needs of our community with the publication of the National Competition Rules (NCR).

This is a major achievement for the sport, and the result of a very big consultative process. Rationalising all the rules across all the disciplines and cross referencing everything has been an extraordinary process, and with trial runs delivered in 2024, these rules will set the framework for the future of the sport.

Anyone with a licence will have seen we have now digitised the application process through the roll-out of the motorsport management platform, powered by Sport:80. This is a major step forward for the way we manage the sport and utilise digital tools available to streamline processes and improve efficiencies. We are at the start of a three-year development programme, so benefits to the community will expand as we utilise the tools available to us.

None of this work would be possible without the hard work of the Motorsport UK Board and expertise from the volunteer Committee members. It is rewarding to see the delivery of these major projects and thanks must go to the Motorsport UK team, based out of Bicester headquarters, who are serving the best interests of the clubs and all licence holders.

I would like to thank the entire motorsport community, from the competitors, marshals, officials and volunteers, for your continued dedication and support in sustaining motorsport in this country. Our sport is grateful for all your efforts.
