RESULTS INQUIRY HEARING – RRH Portreath Sprint Series 2026 held on 11th-12th April 2026( the‘ Event’)
ELIGIBILITY
1. This Inquiry is Ordered by Motorsport UK pursuant to NCR Ch. 2 App. 7 Art. 9 and NCR Ch. 1 Art. 1.4
2. The Court accepts that Motorsport UK is entitled in the interests of sporting fairness to amend or extend its own National Sporting Regulations, in this particular matter to extend the normally prevailing sixty( 60) daytime limit for such Inquiries and issuance of Competition Results.
3. The Court therefore accepts that it has the jurisdiction necessary to conduct this Inquiry and to make such Orders as it considers appropriate.
INQUIRY
4. Motorsport UK Orders this Inquiry having been notified of an issue or irregularity in the Results of the above Event.
5. The Timekeeper advised that several difficulties were experienced over the weekend of the Event:
a) First, the condition of the cabling deteriorated during Saturday due, he suspects, to the rain, although the cabling wasn’ t in good condition to start with.
b) Secondly, the FDS radio beam system at the finish, which had co-operated fully when tested on the Friday, had been blown over by the exceptionally strong winds during the night and been damaged.
c) Thirdly the remaining cable pairs had faults which were addressed by the Sunday.
d) And finally, the position of the Timekeeper is such that he is unable to see the Finish Line, apparently a fairly common arrangement.
6. The Timekeeper therefore had to rely on a Marshal at the finish line reporting the number of each car and a Timekeeper passing messages from the finish line to the Timekeeper operating the timing system. Sometimes the radio messages didn’ t get through, and messages had to be repeated.
7. It was clearly not an easy situation to deal with, and problems became apparent when a competitor queried the recorded time which, on investigation proved to be incorrect. Two further Competitors were also found to have incorrect times. Motorsport UK accordingly requested a full review of all the recorded times during which further discrepancies were found.
8. As there were known irregularities in the recorded times, the Organiser has been unable as required by the NCRs, to issue Final Results or even Provisional Results. Although the National Court is empowered to amend even Final Results, it would seem that such is unnecessary on this occasion.
9. Motorsport UK has received from the Timekeeper a set of Results prepared after his detailed and doubtless time-consuming review which he confirms are true and accurate. These are now before the Court and will be annexed to this Order and marked“ A”.
10. As a result of that review the times for certain cars were now recorded as set out below:
a) The missing time for car 22 be recorded as 62.16
b) The missing time for car 23 be recorded as 62.64
c) The published time for car 2A be amended from 60.97 to 74.59
