DISCIPLINARY HEARING – RYAN SMITH
1. The National Court has considered the case of Ryan Smith, a leading competitor in the British Truck Racing Championship 2026( BTRC) and a previous multiple champion.
2. He appeared before the Court pursuant to NCR Ch. 2 App. 12 Art. 1.6 having accrued 12 or more penalty points on his competition licence in a period of 12 months. The matter had been referred to the Court for the consideration of further penalty.
3. The breaches of NCR giving rise to the allocation of penalty points were as follows:
( 1) BTRC-Thruxton-5th July 2025- Ch. 12 App. 8 Art 1.7( k) – 4 points
2) BTRC- Brands Hatch Indy- 1st November 2025- Ch. 12 App. 8 Art 1.7( e) – 3 points
( 3) BTRC- Brands Hatch-5th April 2026 – Ch. 12 App7. Art. 1.5( f) – 3 points
5. The Court, on hearing from both Mr Smith and from Sian Wooley who appeared for Motorsport UK, considered that the following further penalties should be imposed:
( 1) Mr Smith should be subject to a Motorsport Community Service Penalty in that he must complete three( 3) Marshalling Days within a period of two( 2) months. These must be at Motorsport licensed events, and he must notify Motorsport UK in advance of the dates in question which must be approved by and agreed with Motorsport UK.
( 2) He is fined £ 2000
( 3) He must pay £ 1,000 towards Costs.

4. The summons against Mr Smith had been issued on 9th of June 2026, and his competition licence had been suspended from that date. As a consequence, he had been unable to race at the BTRC rounds at Pembrey Circuit on 20th and 21st June. He is a professional driver, and the Court took notice of the fact that he had suffered considerable financial losses due to the suspension of his licence.
