Arrive-and-drive karting now represents a genuine way to enjoy karting, and Vigor adds:“ It’ s convenient, it’ s affordable, and a lot of people are happy to stay here and participate for leisure. Ultimately, it’ s enjoying motorsport as a hobby with your mates.
“ We run multiple championships with a choice of formats including heavyweight and super-heavyweight categories, with drivers in their 40s, 50s, 60s. In fact, the oldest is 73!”
At Daytona Motorsport, building a community of racers that grow together – wherever they end up – is part of the job, and Prince concludes:

“ Community is just as important as speed – and we are a place where people make friends and go on to race against those familiar faces for years, so it’ s a really social place as well as a racing venue.
“ Some stay for years, others get a taste for two-stroke racing and move to other pathway events such as Club100, DRS or F. A. T. Karting for more variety. It really depends on people’ s ambitions. Some like the proximity, and many people just love to come here for arrive-and-drive karting because it’ s affordable and they can enjoy a really high standard of competition without travelling far.” Whether it’ s a stepping stone or an end goal, the evolution of arriveand-drive karting now represents a genuine way to enjoy the discipline, – and it might just open the door to motorsport for more people.
