The‘ drip-down’ effect is one of the reasons Motorsport UK fought so hard to get the WRC back, and Jackson explains:“ An event of this size inspires people to see what the sport can offer them and that is felt at every level and in every area.
“ We have been fortunate to have Rali Ceredigion in the European Rally Championship over the last three years, and they have done a fantastic job of ensuring the sport kept its position on the international stage. Now, Rally Scotland will strengthen our position even further.”
This is an opportunity for people who show an interest to discover the doors that are open to them – from the core of club rallying to the National Rally Title championship, which is embedded within the BRC and aims to offer top-level rallying with a smaller budget.

Rally Title, people can take part with older or self-prepared cars – rather than FIA-homologated machinery – and it gives more people the chance to get the experience of competing regularly on BRC events.
“ They can run a Mk2 Escort, a Mitsubishi Evo or even a Vauxhall Nova – so it’ s even possible to build a rally car for around £ 10,000 and do the championship, rather than having to spend the £ 70,000 or so that’ s required for the cheapest homologated rally car.”
Ultimately, Rally Scotland is an opportunity to build recognition for all rallying in the UK, encouraging more popularity and more participants, whether that is behind the wheel, on the pace notes or stageside making everything happen.
“ It’ s important to encourage those who are new – or returning – to the sport stay for years to come,” concludes Jackson.“ A WRC event is next level in almost every way – and for many, it will be an adventure of a lifetime.”
