1998 RALLY GB

Carlos Sainz’ s heartbreak

Few rallies have ended with greater emotion. Sainz needed to finish fourth on the final stage to win the title after title leader Tommi Mäkinen crashed out early on, but a catastrophic engine failure a few hundred metres from the finish left him and co-driver Luis Moya trying, to no avail, to push their car, and their dream, over the line.

2003 RALLY GB

Phil Mills crowned World Rally Champion.

Phil Mills joined the Subaru World Rally Team in 2000, along with Petter Solberg, which created one of the most dynamic driver partnerships in the WRC. In 2003, a second consecutive Rally GB victory secured Petter and Phil the Drivers’ and Co-Drivers’ world championship titles.
