Powering the Future of British Motorsport
Motorsport UK is the national governing body and membership organisation for four-wheeled motorsport in the UK. As one of the founding members of the FIA and authorised by the UK Government to govern the sport, we exist to keep the sport safe, fair and fun for everyone- from first-time competitors to world-class professionals. As custodians of the sport’ s rules, standards, safety and development, we champion a vibrant, diverse community of competitors, volunteers, clubs and venues across the country.
Our role spans the entire sport. We licence competitors and officials, train and support volunteers, regulate events, protect safety standards, and help clubs bring motorsport to life across more than 3,500 permitted events each year. We also invest in the sport’ s future- promoting participation, growing new pathways, modernising systems and championing sustainability, innovation and inclusivity across the UK.
We oversee 13 different motorsport disciplines, from grassroots events to global showcases, proving that motorsport is for every interest and every budget.
What Are The National Competition Rules For?
The Foundation of Safe, Fair, Fun Motorsport
The National Competition Rules( NCR) define how motorsport operates in the UK. They ensure every event from grassroots autoSOLOs to international-level circuit racing, runs safely, consistently and with integrity. We govern these rules to inform competitors, empower officials and give clubs a clear, trusted framework for delivering competition. The NCR uphold the standards that allow our sport to thrive and the community to compete with confidence.
The NCR are practical, accessible and built to be used. Whether you are preparing your car, making decisions trackside or organising a championship, the NCR gives you clarity on what is required. It supports safe, fair competition across all 13 disciplines- allowing participants to focus on the enjoyment of the sport while ensuring every event meets the highest standards of safety and governance.
