VOLUNTEERING GETS

YOU ACCESS TO A WIDE VARIETY OF MOTORSPORT EVENTS – BEYOND THOSE

OF A DRIVER

T here is currently one volunteer for every 4.5 Competitors in the UK. Each one plays a vital role in getting motorsport moving – and in return, they get a level of inside access to events that even VIPs cannot experience.

They are in the paddock, checking the cars and sending them out, or standing trackside, getting a closer view of the action than anyone else. They are also in the back rooms, talking to the drivers and engineers, controlling communications, managing events and responding to incidents.

Dawn Butcher, a competitor who also volunteers as a marshal and as Rescue Crew, puts it simply:“ Volunteers are essential, obviously; no marshals or officials means no racing.”
