My month in Motorsport

I t is coming up to 50 years since the RAC MSA( now named Motorsport UK) was incorporated as an independent company, loosening its ties with the Royal Automobile Club, which had established a Motorsport Department in the early 1900s. The reason I mention this is that I imagine that many people are not very familiar with our constitution, which is based on the principles of a membership organisation. In 2019 we undertook a detailed analysis of our governance and constitution and adopted the framework of the Sport England code of sport governance. This led to a change in the role of the Motorsport Council. Until that point the Council held responsibility for the review and approval of rules and regulations that formed the‘ Blue Book’, which was the bible of the sporting code.
