CEO ' s MESSAGE
While visiting Prescott, the first person that I bumped into as I walked through the gate was Rob Jones, the former General Secretary and CEO of Motorsport UK, who was standing with great pride next to his Mk 2 Ford Escort that was resplendent in period correct Castrol livery. Rob took me for a tour around the car which he has owned for many years, and he has known since it was first built by a specialist in the marque in the 1980s. It even has the original floor! Chatting to one of his fellow competitors you could see how bringing rally cars and hill climbs together is working so well in the new Historic Rally Hill Climb Championship that has been created and promoted by Prescott and led by Gemma Price who brings energy and passion to every aspect of the sport.
I also made my way to Thruxton that day for the British Touring Car Championship( BTCC) round, which included the Wera Tools F4 British Championship as part of the support programme. Despite monsoon weather creating a significant challenge for all concerned, there was a mood of buoyancy in the paddock about the BTCC and all the championships that supported it – and the fantastic news that British F4 is joining the British Grand Prix in July and will make history as the first Grand Prix ever that features F1, F2, F3 and F4 all racing on the same weekend.
I wish everybody a safe and fun month of motorsport ahead.
Best regards, Hugh Chambers CEO, Motorsport UK
