V olunteering in motorsport is about becoming part of a passionate community, developing valuable skills, and playing a vital role in making our sport happen. Every race meeting at every level depends on a dedicated community who give their time to support competitors, spectators and organisers alike.
For many volunteers the greatest reward is the experience of having unrivalled access to the action. Along the way they develop confidence, teamwork, communication and leadership skills while building lifelong friendships with people who share the same passion for motorsport.
Many volunteers start their journey at local club events, from helping competitors at autotests, to making complex multi-stage rallies happen. The most dedicated move up to high-profile national and international events, including the many who make the British Grand Prix the envy of the world.
At Silverstone this July Dorothy Uwota was presented with the 2026 Pirelli British Grand Prix Marshal of the Year Award for her dedication and service to motorsport. She received her award from Mercedes driver and 2026 Formula 1 World Championship title challenger George Russell moments before he raced to second place in the event.
