One notable absence from the January calendar is the Autosport International Show at the NEC, with organisers choosing to pause the event for now. But the season still has its traditional spark: Race Retro returns this weekend as the curtain-raiser to the year ahead – and it promises to be bigger, busier and more inspiring than ever.
We hope to see many of you there, Motorsport UK will have a strong presence throughout the weekend; whether you need to renew your licence, seek technical advice or talk through regulatory queries, our team will be on hand to help.
But above all, we have one clear message to share this year: get it out the garage. Across the country, thousands of cars sit under dust covers – former competitors enjoying an extended rest, half-finished projects waiting for attention, blown engines and gearboxes yet to be fixed. But this message is not just for competition prepped cars. The car sitting on your driveway, the one you drive to the shops,

could be your way into motorsport. Many disciplines welcome standard road cars, with little or no modification required. Motorsport can start far closer to home than many people realise.
So, consider this your nudge. Tell us what car you have, and we’ ll tell you where it can compete – rallycross, sprints, hill climbs, circuit racing, historic rallying or trials. And if you’ re not sure where to begin, that’ s exactly why we’ re there. Motorsport should feel accessible, not intimidating, and Race Retro is the perfect place to take that first step into the 2026 season.
Vision 2030 speaks about growing our sport, but that growth depends on all of us. As we move from vision to action, I thank you for the role you play – whether competing, volunteering or supporting from the sidelines. Let’ s get more cars to the start line, and make 2026 a year to remember.
