One notable absence from the January calendar is the Autosport International Show at the NEC, with organisers choosing to pause the event for now. But the season still has its traditional spark: Race Retro returns this weekend as the curtain-raiser to the year ahead – and it promises to be bigger, busier and more inspiring than ever.

We hope to see many of you there, Motorsport UK will have a strong presence throughout the weekend; whether you need to renew your licence, seek technical advice or talk through regulatory queries, our team will be on hand to help.

But above all, we have one clear message to share this year: get it out the garage. Across the country, thousands of cars sit under dust covers – former competitors enjoying an extended rest, half-finished projects waiting for attention, blown engines and gearboxes yet to be fixed. could be your way into motorsport. Many disciplines welcome standard road cars, with little or no modification required. Motorsport can start far closer to home than many people realise.

So, consider this your nudge. Tell us what car you have, and we’ ll tell you where it can compete – rallycross, sprints, hill climbs, circuit racing, historic rallying or trials.
