BARC honours marshals for dedication

Two marshals were honoured for showing exceptional dedication at both ends of the experience spectrum at the recent British Automobile Racing Club’ s( BARC) Annual Awards Evening.
The BARC Marshal of the Year award was presented to Jake Southcombe, who has been marshalling for over a decade. He is also the third generation of his family to volunteer but remains as enthusiastic as ever, covering 23 days in 2025. This included all ten British Touring Car Championship events as well as the Goodwood Revival.
The pair joined a prestigious list of award-winners that included British Touring Car Champion Tom Ingram, who presented Southcombe with his award.
Sadly, Maskell was unable to attend the awards event in person and was presented with the award from the BARC’ s CEO Ben Taylor at the Thruxton Marshal Training Day in January.

Madison Maskell was also honoured, receiving the Peter Harris Trophy for being the leading trainee marshal of the year. She was chosen for the award following an impressive weekend with the BARC at Silverstone despite this being only her second event. Working in assembly on the Saturday, followed by pits / start line on Sunday, Maskell was put in charge using her military experience to great effect.

With BARC officials on hand to assist, Maskell showed great enthusiasm and a willingness to learn, impressing them with her unflustered attitude to the task in hand. This meant that she dealt with everything in a calm and professional manner while leading the team, keeping the event running smoothly.
